The seniorMUSE On The Go Shootout was simply AMAZING! Everything from the instructors, to the location, to the models that showed up everyday ready for anything we asked of them. The venue was situated on the water with spectacular views, an ideal location for our model shoots, as well as a relaxing retreat between learning. Lisa, Cara J, Cara H, and Heidi shared their vast knowledge of topics such as poses, lighting, equipment, style closets, video, products to sell, and more.

One of my favorite parts of the Shootout was how, in between learning modules and shoots, the leaders were willing to help each of us individually on skills or topics where we needed additional help. For me, that time was spent on lighting. My biggest takeaway from the weekend is my new understanding of using flash to enhance my sessions. Whereas before the Shootout I was limited with natural light to where and when I could do a session, now I can shoot anywhere at anytime. The technical elements of using flash were broken down in such simple ways that I now finally understand what had confused me for years. Now I can photograph clients inside or out, even in harsh sunlight or after dark.

In addition to all the new skills I learned, the Shootout was a great environment to network and make friends. The limited capacity for participants allowed us time to get to know each other and share our business models, as well as ask questions and get many different points of view. It was also enlightening to work along side other photographers to see how they worked with the models.

I’ve been in business for seven years now, and the SeniorMUSE Shootout was by far the most beneficial learning experience I have had to date!

The seniorMUSE shootout was a blast! It was a perfect blend of learning, networking, and so much fun. From sunrise to sunset, the changing light provided endless opportunities to capture stunning shots.

The property itself was a gem both inside and out. It was gorgeous with a ton of space for everyone to hang out and get to know each other when we were not learning or shooting. It was very well selected. You could literally just walk out the back door to so many gorgeous places to shoot.

Networking played a significant role in making this workshop exceptional! The instructors encouraged participants to connect, collaborate, and share knowledge. It was nice to see photographers from diverse backgrounds come together and inspire one another.

The shootout sessions were meticulously planned to maximize the use of time and ensure that all attendees had the opportunity to learn from each instructor. The instructors were readily available throughout the workshop, providing personalized feedback and guidance to help us grow as photographers.

We had ample opportunities to shoot in different scenarios and lighting conditions. Photographers know that lighting is the key to unlocking the magic of a photograph, so each day they presented us with different lighting conditions – from harsh light to golden hour and even in to hues of twilight. The adventures didn't end with the setting sun. The workshop included night photography that allowed us to learn the art of shooting in low-light conditions using lighting.

The models were not just good; they were incredibly realistic, just like a senior client would be. Their grace, poise, and willingness to take direction made the entire experience feel authentic. Working with such realistic-like clients was a tremendous learning opportunity, preparing us for real-world scenarios and challenges.

The style closet and props were on point! We were able to create a wide range of looks for our models. Whether we aimed for a relaxed beach vibe, a bohemian feel, or a touch of elegance, the well-curated selection of clothing and accessories made it all possible.

I think I signed up for this shoot out literally the day it was opened, almost a full year before we actually attended. I had met Lisa and both Caras at SYNC a couple of years ago, and I knew that I loved them all! So, having an opportunity to shoot with them and learn from them seemed wonderful.

So you can imagine that years long wait was terrible! I wanted it to happen NOW! Trust me when I tell you, it was very much worth the wait!

I do not think there was any detail left unattended. Our accommodations were top-notch! I’ve already requested my room for next year if we are in the same lodge! 😉 I loved having home cooked meals with the other attendees and instructors and not having to worry about feeding myself. The schedule allowed for shooting time, educational time, and down time. I learned things during all three!

While I already knew a lot of what the instructors were teaching, I can say I learned something during every presentation! The instructors did a wonderful job preparing their programs. And the giveaways and prizes! Top notch!

The shoot out was my favorite part! We had beautiful and incredibly sweet models that were so patient and willing to do whatever we asked and go wherever we asked them to go. At one point Lisa and I took them to a private beach next-door (I did knock on the door and ask permission 🤣). I loved that they were just real high school girls, not trained professional models. They are exactly like the girls I work with in my business. And can we talk about the clothing… The style closet was outstanding! I got so many ideas from the way the clothing and accessories were put together.

I also loved that this event was kept small. I loved the intimate setting and the individual attention I felt like I got with the models and instructors. And I made some friends that I think I will have for a long time! Overall, I can say this is probably one of my favorite educational events I’ve attended. If you get a chance, you really need to join us next year!!!

Overall, I learned so much and was able to capture some amazing shots. The workshop was very well organized, and I felt like I got individual attention and guidance when needed. The models were great to work with and had a lot of energy, which made the shoot even more enjoyable.

I also appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with other photographers. We exchanged ideas, techniques, and tips throughout the day, which was a great way to learn from each other and get inspired. The sense of camaraderie and community was evident, and I felt comfortable asking questions and seeking feedback from my peers.

After the shootout, we had the chance to socialize and connect with the other photographers and mentors. This was a valuable networking opportunity, as I was able to meet industry professionals and make new connections. It was also a chance to ask more questions and get additional feedback on my work.

I would highly recommend the seniorMUSE On-the-Go. The workshop provided a unique and inspiring experience, with plenty of opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with others in the industry. The personalized attention and guidance from the mentors was invaluable, and I walked away with a renewed sense of creativity and excitement for my photography.

What a great weekend of mentoring, shooting and networking at an awesome location! The weekend was well planned and covered great topics. I love workshops that offer tons of hands on shooting and this one delivered! There were plenty of styled models to photograph who were also enthusiastic and fun to work with. All of the mentors were awesome and brought a ton of expertise to the table. I so enjoyed the experience and made some awesome new friends.
